While searching Google with the keyword phrase “Flex Applications” I was presented with the list of top blog entries and noticed my visited links covering the gamut of pages I read in the past weeks of Google search based review.

First of all, if you haven’t read the blog posting titled “Top 10 Mistakes when building Flex Applications”, its definitely a top list item you should read.

Here is the direct Link: http://www.infoq.com/news/2008/04/top-10-flex-mistakes

This blog posting title painted an early picture of what information may be provided, but once I began to read the post, I found that there was much more there than just typical mistake outlined but a deeper understanding of best practices as well. ~ This was an excellent read and I welcome you to also review and learn for yourself.

Flex in a Week (Video review)

December 24, 2008

Flex In a Week is a must view for programmers and webmasters looking for the best practice approaches for RIA buildouts with Flex Builder and Flex ActionScript 3.x offered by the experts at Adobe.

As a web programmer with over 10 years building web apps and software systems, I found the chapter videos very easy to follow and extremely helpful in giving not only a detailed granular view with code samples, but a high level view and understanding of the improved framework and methods of building Flex apps.

Adobe has put out many great samples of source code describing how to build and data-bind dashboard applications.

I currently have posted these two online (SWF outputs) from flex builder 3 on my server http://chadcollins.com/Articles.aspx?article_title=dash&category_id=5

The code (when reviewed) is quite different in the offering and method.  One utilizing Actionscript 2 and one with Actionscript 3.

The version 3 default example of code is excellent to work with and has some new features with skinning and style examples that make it very attractive. Over-all these two code samples available by visiting here:
AS2: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/samples/dashboard/

AS3: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/samples/dashboard/dashboard.html

I have to say how much I really enjoyed these two code samples as a method for finding quick solutions and examples for data binding, data grid, and “smart” resizing of the layout when the browser modal is resized.

Review of the ‘The Official Flex Team Blog’ showcases many of the items and code resources you would expect.  When visiting the blog today, you will find an excellent link to 1,000,000 Flex samples viewed with Tour de Flex

Here is the direct link to the original blog:  http://gregsramblings.com/2008/12/16/1000000-samples-served-by-tour-de-flex/
The download size of the samples is rather large, but extremely valuable in reviewing the many many core components and objects that flex offers.

Of course the Official Flex Team Blog will have a high level reference offering to many top knotch code examples and ASx programmers and designers.

I highly recommend following the above links and downloading the 1m…. Flex Examples.
